Just because you're gluten-free doesn't mean you can't enjoy the pumpkin spice trend that is taking over the food and beverage world this year. Enjoy pumpkin spice - free from gluten! It's time for pumpkin spice everything - even gluten free!
New Gluten-Free Pumpkin Spice Products
Gluten-free bar makers like LARABAR and KIND bar offer limited edition flavors during the fall. LARABAR Pumpkin Pie and KIND Caramel Almond Pumpkin Spice bars are available now at a store near you or available for sale online!
We love a good pumpkin spice latte, but some of us can't do dairy, or some of us don't trust those big name coffee shops to keep our drinks safe. Whatever the reason, many turn to DIY pumpkin spice lattes! Califia Farms puts out their annual Pumpkin Spice Creamer, Pumpkin Spice Better Half no sugar added creamer and Cold Brew Coffee. These nut-based creamers are delish! Nut Pods also launched their seasonal unsweeted Whole 30 approved creamer in Pumpkin Spice. It was all the rage at the recent Expo East! While we were there, we also grabbed a cup of coffee brewed with the Simply Organic "pre-brew" coffee seasoning! Just sprinkle these spices into your coffee pot and you'll brew pumpkin coffee! Looking for a sugar-free pumpkin spice syrup? Try NuNaturals Pumpkin Spice Syrup, made with NuStevia!
But your coffee doesn't have to be the only beverage that's packed with pumpkin! If you're gluten-free, you're stuck without many seasonal beer options while the rest of the world gets to imbibe pumpkin everything! This year, you've got options! Check out Holidaily Brewing Company - certified gluten-free beer. This year they've launched Patchy Waters Pumpkin Ale! Unfortunately you have to be in Colorado to find this beer! Austin Eastciders, an Austin-based company, launched Spiced Cider for the fall.
Is Sweet Potato the New Pumpkin?
This year, on the Expo East show floor, we saw more and more fall flavors that were trying to be the next big thing - or should we say the next big pumpkin! But we don't blame them - items like these Hail Merry Sweet Potato Cups capture our hearts and our mouths!
The growning brand Caulipower has had so much success in the pizza market. But this Expo East, they launched Sweet Potatoast (get it - sweet potato toast!). We assume this is because of the big trend on Pinterest for using sliced sweet potatoes as a type of "toast" and structure to hold delicious toppings. We're excited to see how these pan out in the market!
Cappello's just launched their sweet potato gnocchi to add to their grain-free gluten-free pasta line! We can't wait to see what it's the wings for this awesome paleo brand.
If you're not into sweet potato, how about butternut squash? These new Veggie Rings from Farmwise are made with sweet potatoes and butternut squash, along with white beans.
Is Maple Potato the New Pumpkin?
We can't get enough maple products. Have you tried Kinnikinnick donuts in maple? They're simply delicious! Maple is great throughout the year, but it has a special heart in the fall months, when the weather turns and we all want too head inside, and get cozy around the fire with big blankets and hot cocoa.
We were just introduced to the small brand of Healing Home Foods, but we were impressed not only with their certifications, their brand story and history, and also their taste! Their paleo-based graham crackers were addictive! And I wouldn't feel bad eating most of this bag in one sitting since the ingredients we're so simple!
Another nut-based cheese, Treeline Treenut Cheese, is doing a great job with seasonal flavors. I never though I'd think of maple walnut as a good "cheese" flavor, but this unique flavor of soft cheese is just seasonal perfection! We can't wait to spread this cashew-based cheese on our gluten-free crackers this holiday.
